So I did a head count of my ‘collection’ today… and wow. What started as a single 1911 in 2009 has turned into quite a bit more than that. I have long arms and hand guns for every day of the month… I have stocks for the following calibers as well:
- .22lr
- 9mm
- .45ACP
- .38 SPC
- .357 Magnum
- 5.56mm/.223
- 7.62×51/.308
- 7.62×39
- .30-06
- 12ga
Suffice it to say, it is quite the logistical nightmare in Devs little firearms Den. Stocking these calibers in sustainable quantities is difficult to say the least. I tend to buy ammo in phases over the year, usually buying 1000 rounds here, 1000 rounds there… and boy does it add up. It’s looking that it may be time to consolidate and/or begin to reload at home.
So… in short, I have too many guns and too many different types of ammo. Not that I’m complaining or that it’s necessarily a problem, but it does leave me wondering: What’s the point? Why do I need all of them? What are their uses? Is it a collection? Is it for practical shooting? What then?
Here’s another problem I have: If I had to grab a gun and go, I have the bare essentials to grab one rifle (AR-15) and maybe one handgun. Even that rig set-up is piss poor based on its performance in my most recent training class…
Does anyone else have this problem?
