TTAG is reporting that the sequestration may impair funding to the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms which may hinder the enforcement of our nations unconstitutional firearms law (I mean really, how can any regulation of something that “…shall not be infringed” be Constitutional?).
I’m kinda waiting to hear what the actual problem is… 😛
Frankly, as much as I’d love to see the BATF be eliminated, they make an awesome boogie man for gun rights groups… these are the guys who murdered innocent folks at Ruby Ridge, burned down Waco (both of which precipitated the OKC Bombing), and ran firearms to the Mexican cartels. Yet, if they were eliminated, their duties would probably be taken over by the FBI, which is a tough target to fight politically since it is somewhat popular to Americans.
Honestly, before we can get rid of the BATF, we need to ensure we eliminate their mission. Get the firearms laws off the books. Eliminate the National Firearms Act ’34, the Gun Control Act ’68, and the Hughes Amendment to the Firearm Owners Protection Act ’86. Then eliminate all State prohibitions of firearms ownership and carrying.
