Watching the GOP primaries is a bit of a joke. It’s a bit funny to see which candidate the conservative voters want to put in as their candidate for the White House in 2012, especially bickering over the two most un-electable candidates money can buy (NG and MR).
The 2012 Presidential is a game of simple mathematics: 1/3 of the country pulls the GOP lever 100% of the time… 1/3 of the country pulls the Democrat lever 100% of the time… and 1/3 pulls the lever on whoever floats their boat. Seeing that 100% of the GOP just wants Obama out, you can put in anyone with a ‘-R’ next to their name, and they will get that 1/3rd of the vote. Seeing as many Democrats (especially the liberal ones) feel neglected by the current administration means that <100% of the 1/3rd is actually going to pull the lever for Pres. Obama in November…
This means, the battle for 2012 is solely on the independents… those centrist Americans who are kinda tired of the social conservative vitriol coming out of the GOP… and those that are tired of the socialistic hippy crud that makes up many of the talking points in the Democratic Party. They want someone new… a true centrist.
So who can that be?
Let’s take a look at some recent polling…
As you can see: While Ron Paul may falter against fellow GOPers… he draws more sway against Obama with the voters that count: the undecided. While Mitt Romney comes close, I seriously doubt Americans would trade the ‘real deal’ with Obama for a cheaper knock-off like Mitt. But that’s my opinion.
Either way: Newt or Mitt, the GOP is putting itself behind the 8-ball. With Ron, that may change the dynamic and give America a new candidate to shake things up.
